Charlie began playing piano at the age of 8. He attended Lancing College renowned for its music department where he developed a keen interest in jazz. Achieving one of the highest marks in the country for A level performance, Charlie went on to study Music at Leeds University. Here he became a very busy professional musician along side his studies, gaining a wealth of experience in big bands and smaller jazz ensembles. Since graduating Charlie returned South where he has been in demand for various different studio & live projects.
Having played in some of the countries top venues alongside some of the countries finest musicians, at the age of twenty five Charlie brings a wealth of experience to his playing.
His professional career has seen him play in some of the countrys top venues & share a stage with artists such as Breakestra, The James Taylor Quartet & Alexandra Burke (X Factor finalist). Charlie is founding member of the 8 piece funk band The Grand Majestic, currently gathering much recognition on the Brighton & London scene and also regularly playing in professional cover bands around the country.
Charlie is a very experienced and versatile freelance pianist, specialising in jazz and all popular styles. He feels equally at home as a session player recording for artists in a studio, as he does donning a suit and providing background music at weddings. Holding a piano residency at a Country House hotel has meant Charlie has performed at a considerable number of weddings and private functions.

Charlie can be hired as a solo pianist for your wedding or function. Since 2007 he has held a piano residency at Horsted Place Hotel in East Sussex where he has provided music for a vast number of weddings and events. Whether its to accompany the bride walking down the isle, provide background music for drinks, accompany the relative who has a good voice and wants to get up and sing a song, waltz for a tea dance or a good old fashioned sing along Charlie has done it all.

As a soloist Charlie has entertained guests in a number of hotels around the Southern counties and London. Including Buxted Park Uckfield, Shellys Hotel Lewes, Park Lane Hotel London, Pelham House Lewes, Hilton Hotel London and Thistle Hotel Brighton. The list goes on but shows how through a mass of function experience Charlie knows how to create the right atmosphere for your event. Clients range from the corporate giants such as Lloyds TSB and Pension Management Institution to Southwick Cathedral art gallery openings.

Charlie prides himself in being a very versatile pianist. He is not restricted to playing one genre of music that may not be to everyones taste. Charlie has a mass of teaching experience. He is able to teach pupils on a private one to one basis at his home in Rodmell just outside Lewes in East Sussex or can travel within distance. He currently works as a popular piano tutor for the Sussex Academy of Music in Shoreham, West Sussex and frequently travels around teaching in schools in the West Sussex area.
Charlie is able to offer piano lessons to suite your requirements. Each lesson is tailored to provide the most beneficial way of learning for the individual needs of the pupil. Whether you want to gain confidence in reading music, understanding theory, work towards an exam or learn how to improvise Charlie can provide fun, relaxed lessons that go at a pace to suit you.
Charlie is CRB checked and is a member of the Musicians Union.
Prices for teaching on a one to one basis at his home in Rodmell:

1 hour lesson £25
